Female security guard 'in critical condition' after assault by male prisoner
Version 0 of 1. Detectives from the Metropolitan police’s homicide and major crime command are investigating the serious assault of a female Serco security guard at a London court. “At approximately 1.35pm on Monday 29 June, officers were alerted to a Serco security guard who had been seriously assaulted by a male prisoner at Blackfriars crown court,” the Met said in a statement. The guard – a woman believed to be in her 50s – was assaulted as she escorted a prisoner between the courtroom and a van parked in the building’s courtyard. London’s air ambulance attended and the victim was treated at the scene before being taken to an east London hospital. She is in a critical condition and next of kin have been informed. A man aged 22 was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and on Monday night was in custody at a south London police station. |
