Warning of thunderstorms after hottest day of the year

Forecasters have warned that severe thunderstorms could affect parts of north Wales on Wednesday.

The yellow warning covers Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham.

The hottest day of the year was recorded in Ceredigion and Denbighshire on Tuesday, as temperatures soared to 26.3C (79F) at 12:00 BST. The previous record was 24.4C (76F).

The Met Office said temperatures in Wales could reach 31C (88F) on Wednesday.

Forecasters said warm air was moving northwards through France, with temperatures rising across the UK.

It follows average and below average temperatures for most of June.
