The deaths of a woman and her 14-year-old girl daughter, whose bodies were found in their home in Surrey, are thought to be linked to the death of a man in the south of France, police have said.

Lisa Anthony and her daughter Ava were believed to be linked to the death of a man in his 50s, which occurred in the Aix en Provence area of Southern France on Sunday.

Police said they were working with the French Gendarmerie as a normal part of the investigation.

They did not release the name of the deceased man who was understood to have been Mrs Anthony’s husband and Ava’s father, who also lived at the address.

They arrived at the property in Simmons Gate at around 10am on Monday after concerns were raised and discovered the bodies of the woman and girl.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Mark Preston, said: “This is a tragic incident where lives have been lost and our thoughts are with their family and friends at this time.

“We are in the very early stages of the investigation but we do not believe there to be any threat to the wider community and I would like to reassure the public that this is thought to be an isolated incident. We are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths."
