Woman discovered with arm injury Woman's arm severed in murder bid

A woman was found wandering along a stretch of the M8 near Glasgow with a serious arm injury. A young woman's arm has been severed after she was thrown from a car by a man who had picked her up in Glasgow.
The 29-year-old was discovered just before 0200 BST on Sunday at the Arkleston junction by a man travelling home to Paisley in a taxi. The 29-year-old was found wandering on the M8, near Paisley, with part of her arm missing on Sunday at 0150 BST.
A coach carrying wedding guests also stopped to help at the scene just before Glasgow airport. Her arm was found nearby and the woman was taken to hospital where attempts to reattach it failed.
The woman was taken to the city's Royal Infirmary, where she was said to be in a serious condition. Police are treating the incident as attempted murder. The woman was picked up at about midnight in the red light area of the city.
A spokesman for Strathclyde Police said: "A 29-year-old woman was found with serious arm injuries on the M8 at Arkleston. She was found near to Arkleston Cemetery by a passing motorist.
"She is currently receiving hospital treatment and police inquiries into the incident are ongoing." Police took her to the Royal Alexandra Hospital and she was later transferred to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Hospital staff described her condition as stable.
Detectives said she got into a dark coloured car with a man in Holm Street at Wellington Street.
They then drove to Arkleston Rd where police believe she was thrown from the car.
Det Insp Steven Wilson said: "We are currently trying to establish exactly what happened and are appealing for the public's help.
"The woman's limb was found in Arkleston Road near to the cemetery and we believe that it was in this area that she was thrown from the car.
"I am anxious to speak to anyone who saw the woman entering the vehicle in Holm Street.
"I would also like to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Arkleston Cemetery between 0100 and 0150."
