Version 0 of 1.

An Israeli cabinet minister on Thursday signed an order barring a Palestinian television channel geared toward Israeli Arabs from operating inside Israel for the next six months. In the order, Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan said that the channel, F48, did not have proper authorization to operate in Israel. The channel, which is funded by the Palestinian Authority, began broadcasting from the Israeli city of Nazareth, which is predominantly Arab, last month. Mr. Erdan said he would not allow “Israel’s sovereignty to be harmed” or let the Palestinian Authority gain a “foothold” in the country. He said the channel would be prevented from operating “anywhere within the state of Israel” for six months. Riad al-Hassan, the head of the Palestinian Broadcasting Corporation, called the decision illegal.
