A tonne of burning cake mix appears to have sparked a fire at a commercial bakery, the fire service has said.

British Bakels Ltd, in Bicester, Oxfordshire, was evacuated at about 18:45 BST on Friday after the fire broke out in an industrial cake mixing machine.

Firefighters said they were met with "a rapidly developing fire" in the tonne of burning cake mix.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue said no-one was injured.

Station manager Julian Green said "Crews kept the fire contained to the cake machine and extinguished it quickly, preventing a major fire involving the whole factory."
