People living in the street where a fire gutted a historical Merthyr Tydfil chapel have been allowed back into their homes. The pastor of a Merthyr Tydfil chapel "gutted" by a fire has said it was close to receiving funding to reopen to the community.
An investigation into the cause of the fire at Capel Aberfan is continuing. Pastor Dave Pritchard said he was "sad" to see Capel Aberfan following the fire on Saturday.
The internal structure of the chapel, built in 1876, was completely destroyed by the blaze which broke out at 01:50 BST on Saturday. He said work had been ongoing to secure funding for its regeneration.
