15-year-old boy electrocuted after climbing on train
Version 0 of 1. A 15-year-old boy has died after climbing on to a freight train and touching overhead power cables near Wakefield, West Yorkshire. The boy was treated by paramedics but pronounced dead at the scene in the village of Wenthorpe on Saturday. A 16-year-old male and an 18 year-old female were also injured in the incident which occurred shortly after 6:30pm. The two teenagers are being treated in Pinderfields Hospital and they are not believed to be in a life threatening condition. A British Transport Police spokesman said: “At this stage it would appear that the two boys and the female were on the railway line and the 15-year-old boy had climbed on to a freight train at the location.” The spokesman added that all three teenagers were from the local area. The boy’s death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the local coroner. The Office of Rail Regulation have also been informed of the death. |
