Gateshead attempted rape: 15-year-old boy arrested

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested following an attempted rape in Gateshead.

At about 22:00 BST on Saturday, a teenager approached a 23-year-old woman and grabbed her near Rickgarth on Leam Lane Estate in Wardley.

The woman was not injured in the incident but was left shaken, police said.

Northumbria Police said a 15-year-old male had been arrested and was being held in police custody.
