Police have released the image of a man they want to speak to after reports he tried to sell a baby to a member of the public. Police have arrested a man on suspicion of neglect after reports that he tried to sell a baby to a member of the public. The incident is believed to have happened just after 2.30pm on Sunday. The man was reported to have approached a member of the public on Deansgate in Manchester city centre and offered to sell him the baby.
The incident is believed to have happened just after 2.30pm on Sunday in Barton Arcade in Manchester. A picture released earlier by police shows the man in a the doorway of a betting shop holding a pram with one hand.

Sergeant David Henshall, from Manchester police said: “This is extremely unusual and, at this time, we are trying to establish the full circumstances of the situation, but most importantly check on the welfare of the child.” DI Liam Boden of Greater Manchester police said: “We would like to thank members of the public and the media for their assistance in publicising the appeal earlier today. We have now arrested a man on suspicion of child neglect and will be questioning him in relation to the incident as we try to establish the full circumstances.”
