Nigeria: Deadly Blasts Strike a Northeastern Market
Version 0 of 1. Two bombings believed to have been carried out by Boko Haram militants killed about 50 people at a market in the northeastern city of Gombe on Thursday, a Red Cross official and a representative of the National Emergency Management Agency said. Nobody claimed responsibility for the blasts, but suspicion is likely to fall on Boko Haram, an Islamist extremist group based in Nigeria. The Red Cross official, who was involved in the emergency response effort but insisted on anonymity, also said that about 70 people were wounded in the bombings. |
