Police sought to question a 30-year-old man about the deaths of three children and two adults whose bodies were found in a California home on Saturday. Police said on Sunday a 30-year-old man had been arrested over the deaths of his daughter, two other girls and two women whose bodies were found in a California home.
Detectives named Martin Martinez, of Modesto, a person of interest in the investigation and are asking anyone with information on him and his whereabouts to call authorities. Modesto police spokeswoman Heather Graves said Martin Martinez was detained in San Jose early on Sunday and had been booked into a Santa Clara County jail on suspicion of murder.
Police spokeswoman Heather Graves said she didn’t know his relationship to the victims. He was last seen driving a red Lincoln Navigator. She said Martinez had a relationship with one of the women and was the father of one of the girls who were found dead on Saturday afternoon. Graves said all the victims were related and the children’s ages ranged from six months to six years old.
Officers responding to a request to conduct a welfare check on the home discovered the bodies in the afternoon, Graves said. She had no immediate information on the victims and circumstances of the deaths. She said detectives were waiting to receive court approval to enter the home and process the crime scene. Graves said police were not releasing information about a motive or cause of death.
Modesto is located in the state’s Central Valley. Officers responding to a request to conduct a welfare check on the home discovered the bodies on Saturday afternoon, Graves said.
