Coroner’s officials said on Sunday a 21-year-old man accidentally drowned in the backyard pool of a Los Angeles home owned by the actor Demi Moore. Demi Moore has said she is stunned and saddened by the death of a 21-year-old man on Sunday in the backyard pool of a Los Angeles home she owns.
Lieutenant Fred Corral said the man was found dead at 5.30am on Sunday. “I am in absolute shock,” the 52-year-old actress said in a statement released through her publicist, Heidi Lopata. “I was out of the country traveling to meet my daughters for a birthday celebration when I got the devastating news.”
Los Angeles police responded to the home on the 9000 block of Oak Pass Road in west Los Angeles after a 911 call. Moore said the death, which occurred at a party held by her assistant in her absence, was an “unthinkable tragedy, and my heart goes out to this young man’s family and friends.”
Sergeant A Bone said Moore was not home at the time, and the man was not a family member. He was associated with someone with access to the pool. His identity was not immediately released. The man, Edenilson Steven Valle, had gone missing for 10 or 15 minutes before his friends found him floating in the deep end of the pool early Sunday morning, said Los Angeles County coroner’s Lt. Fred Corral.
Valle’s family and friends told investigators he didn’t know how to swim, Corral said.
Police and paramedics responded to the home in west Los Angeles after a 911 call at about 5.15 a.m.

Representatives for Moore did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The news and celebrity website TMZ was first to report the incident. The apparent drowning was first reported by TMZ.
