The medals were on display at the Violette Szabo museum in Herefordshire where Szabo used to go on holiday. The museum's founder, Rosemary Rigby, had called for the medals to remain in the country.
Speaking after the auction, Ms Szabo said parting with her mother's medals had been "a difficult decision" but an "important one for the nation".
"I think it's an excellent result. They are in a place where hundreds of thousands of people will see them over the years," she added.
"She will continue to inspire people."
