A seven-year-old boy has gone missing after failing to return home from a park in South Yorkshire where he was playing with friends on Sunday. Police searching for a missing seven-year-old boy in South Yorkshire have found the body of a child on a construction site.
Conley Thompson, of Worsbrough in Barnsley, was last seen in Locke Park - a 40-minute walk from home - at about 20:00 BST on Sunday. South Yorkshire Police said formal identification of the body was yet to take place, but it was believed to be Conley Thompson.
South Yorkshire Police has issued an appeal to help find him. The body was found at about 08:30 BST on Bank End Road in the Worsbrough area of Barnsley.
Conley had gone to play with friends at the park and about two hours later he was reported missing. His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
He was due to return home to Underwood Avenue in Worsbrough but did not turn up. Det Insp Victoria Short, leading the investigation, said: "We deployed our full resources with officers searching throughout the night to find Conley and we are deeply saddened by this tragic development.
Police described Conley as white and with short mousey brown hair and blue eyes. "While it is early in the investigation, the death is being treated as unexplained and a post-mortem will take place in due course.
He was wearing a blue checked shirt, red shoes, a black coat and brown trousers. "Our thoughts remain with Conley's family and friends at this very difficult time."

He had gone to play with friends at the park and was due to return home, but police were alerted when he did not turn up about two hours later.
