One hurt after serious incident between Mountain Ash and Abercynon Mark Jones in a critical condition after Mountain Ash shooting

One person has been taken to hospital following a serious incident in Rhondda Cynon Taff on Sunday, police have said. A man has been shot in a roadside layby in Rhondda Cynon Taff.
New Road between Mountain Ash and Abercynon has been sealed off since about 19:40 BST with traffic diverted. Mark Jones, 43, from Mountain Ash was shot at 19:40 BST on Sunday in an area known locally as Lletty Turner Bends.
South Wales Police has not revealed what the incident was but scenes of crime officers have been searching the area surrounding a lay-by on the A4059, including the main road itself. Two gunshots were heard coming from Mr Jones's parked white Audi A3 and he remains in a critical condition in Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil.
The ambulance service also sent a Hazardous Area Response Team. New Road between Mountain Ash and Abercynon has been sealed off since the shooting.
