Homes have been evacuated after a suspicious object was found in north Belfast. A pipe bomb has been found during a security alert in north Belfast, police have said.
Police are attending a security alert in the Rosapenna Street area, a spokesman for the Police Service of Northern Ireland said. A suspicious object was found in Rosapenna Street on Monday morning.
The street is closed at its junction with Rosapenna Court. Homes and businesses were evacuated as an army bomb disposal team moved in.
Oldpark Road between Glenview Street and Hillview Road is also closed. Diversions are in place. All roads in the area have been reopened and residents have been allowed to return to their homes.
Cliftonville Community Centre on Manor Street has been made available for people who have been moved from their homes. Sinn Féin's Gerry Kelly said the alert had brought "nothing but disruption" to the area and had caused businesses to close while the security operation went on.
