Fire services are responding to reports that a light aircraft has overshot the runway at a private airport in Hampshire and crashed into a car auction centre.
Hampshire fire brigade has sent four pumps and a Land Rover to Blackbushe airport, seven miles north-west of Farnborough. A light aircraft has crashed at a private airport in Hampshire and ploughed into a car auction centre.
A spokeswoman for the service said they have received reports that the aircraft missed the runway and crashed into the British Car Auctions (BCA) site located at the airport. Emergency services including fire, ambulance and police have all attended the incident at Blackbushe airport, seven miles north-west of Farnborough.
There was no word on casualties. Hampshire fire brigade has sent four pumps and a Land Rover to the scene, while South East Coast Ambulance Service confirmed a “multi-vehicle” response.
Images on Twitter show a large plume of smoke emerging from the car park. A spokeswoman for the service said they have received reports that the aircraft missed the runway and crashed into the British Car Auctions site located at the airport. Other reports suggested the plane had crashed after take-off.
It is unclear how many casualties are involved but videos and images on Twitter show a large fire and plume of smoke in the car park of the dealership.
