Out of control fire in New South Wales Blue Mountains could threaten homes
Version 0 of 1. Rural fire crews are keeping a close watch on an out of control fire in the NSW Blue Mountains, which could threaten homes with strong winds predicted. About 100 crews are in the Wentworth Falls area and waterbombing helicopters are on the way, NSW RFS inspector Ben Shepherd says. The fire is burning in an inaccessible area near Hordern Road, Coronation Road and Tableland Road. The fire broke out on Friday night but has picked up over the past few hours because of strengthening winds. An emergency alert telephone warning message has been sent to residents in the area and updates are being posted on the Rural Fire Service website. The fire comes just two weeks after it snowed in the Blue Mountains. |
