The Parklands Festival was to have been held over the August Bank Holiday weekend at Duncombe Park, near Helmsley. The festival owners had appointed a new company to run this year's event, but said advance ticket sales had not met projections. The company behind the 2014 festival went into liquidation last September. 'Very sorry' In a statement, the Galtres Festival Charitable Foundation said it could not proceed without "certainty" all the event costs would have been met. "We were determined to put things straight financially, and countless people have toiled tirelessly to plan and promote the event. We did everything we could, yet that wasn't enough. We are so very sorry". This year's event would have been the 11th and was due to feature around 100 acts on five stages, including The Proclaimers and Badly Drawn Boy. The organisation said those people who had purchased advance tickets would be contacted directly with details about claiming a refund. The company running the event in 2014, Galtres Festival Trading Ltd, had introduced a cashless payment system for traders but was unable to pay them after the festival finished. Many traders had been offered the chance to attend this year's event for free to help them recoup their losses. |
