The Labor Party’s youth camp is reopening Friday on the island of Utoya for the first time since a right-wing extremist gunned down 69 people there four years ago. Emilie Bersaas, a camp organizer, said “that dark day” must not “overshadow the nice and bright” memories of camps there. More than 1,000 students have enrolled for the three-day weekend seminars on politics. In 2012, Anders Behring Breivik was sentenced to 21 years in prison, the maximum under Norwegian law, for the rampage and the killing of eight people in Oslo with a car bomb.
