3,000 amateur cyclists take part in Mark Cavendish ride

The sportive ride, which starts in Cheshire, will go through Wrexham, Flintshire, Denbighshire and Conwy. The new event uses three routes of different lengths, with the first cyclists expected to finish at about 11:30 BST. All riders are expected to finish by 18:00. Cavendish said: "All three routes are really special and through some beautiful countryside in north Wales." The routes include the 80km (50-mile) "enthusiast route", the 120km (75-mile) "purist" route and a 185km (115-mile) "extremist" route, which includes 2,800 metres of ascent. |
