'It's a prickly situation': man charged over alleged theft of Piggie the echidna
Version 0 of 1. A man charged over the alleged theft of Piggie the echidna on the Gold Coast has joked he has found himself in a “prickly situation” with the law. Tyson Paul Bothur is the second man to face court over the alleged theft of the echidna from the Currumbin wildlife sanctuary earlier this month. Related: Piggie the echidna is returned safe to Currumbin wildlife sanctuary The 20-year-old appeared at Southport magistrates court on Thursday on charges of animal cruelty and entering premises with intent. “It’s a prickly situation at the moment,” he said outside the court. Asked if he thought the charges were a joke, Bothur told reporters: “Not really, but youse clearly do. Get out of my face.” Bothur appears to have changed his Facebook profile picture to CCTV stills of the masked man alleged to have stolen Piggie. The matter was adjourned until 1 September. |
