A man has been jailed for sexually abusing two nine-year-old girls in Doncaster more than 20 years ago.

Jason Lee Garside, 43, was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court to two years and 10 months in prison.

A jury found him guilty last month of two counts of indecent assault committed between 1989 and 1994.

Garside, of Thicket Drive, Maltby, admitted two further counts of indecent assault and one of gross indecency at the beginning of his trial.

He was placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for life.

Det Con Nichole Russell, of South Yorkshire Police, said: "This case further demonstrates that [we] will take robust action against those who sexually abuse children, regardless of when the abuse took place, and we will do whatever we can to bring these offenders before the courts."
