Man arrested at King's Cross station in London after 'firearms incident'

Version 0 of 1. Armed police officers have arrested a man at King’s Cross station, central London, after a security alert that closed platforms for more than an hour. Passengers trying to leave on services from the station faced delays on Thursday afternoon after officers, some carrying submachine guns, arrived shortly after 3pm. Passengers who were barred from entering the platforms were told that they were closed because of a “firearms incident” involving someone on an incoming train. British Transport police said they had arrested a 40-year-old man on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class B drug. Just been evacuated from Kings cross station. Police everywhere. No idea what's going on. Apparently a firearms incident on a train on its way to Kings Cross. Lots of frantic staff here. Armed police taken control of the station. A police spokesman said the armed officers had been there “to meet incoming trains”. “Some platforms were closed while this activity took place,” he said. “At approximately 4.15pm, a 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class B drug. Enquires are ongoing. The operation is now coming to an end and the platforms are being reopened.” |
