The 14-year-old girl was last seen in Eston on Teesside at about 16:00 BST on Thursday. She was reported missing at about 22:00 and a search involving 30 officers was launched.
Police are appealing to hotel, bar and bed and breakfast workers, who may have seen her to get in touch.
Cleveland Police confirmed on Friday morning the teenager had been found.
Supt Alistair Simpson, of Cleveland Police, said he believed Emily thought she was in love, but may be in danger.
Officers had appealed to bed and breakfast owners, as well as taxi and bus drivers, to be vigilant.
She is slim, about 5ft 8in, with light brown, shoulder-length hair.
"I think Emily thinks she may be in love with this person and in a relationship with him and it's possible that she could be in danger at this point in time", Supt Simpson said.
"We don't know if Emily is still in the area or may have travelled out of it and if so how."
He also urged taxi and bus drivers, as well as campsite and bed and breakfast owners, to be vigilante.
It is believed Emily was wearing a grey hoodie, blue jeans and a body warmer with fur around the hood.
