Blaze at town industrial estate Blaze at town industrial estate
(about 8 hours later)
Firefighters are tackling a blaze at a building in the Loguestown Industrial Estate in Coleraine. A fire has destroyed a building in the Loguestown Industrial Estate in Coleraine.
There were initial concerns that the roof of the building may have contained asbestos, but this has been ruled out. It is understood the building, owned by roofing and lining company Haire Bros, suffered serious structural damage in Monday's blaze.
The building is owned by roofing and lining company Haire Bros, which is based in the County Londonderry town. There are fears that it could collapse. Initial concerns that the roof of the building may have contained asbestos proved false.
The fire has been contained and is not spreading to any of the adjoining properties, Fire Service area commander Jim McCallum said. Firefighters were able to contain the fire and stop it spreading.
"The building has been largely destroyed and part of the roof has collapsed," added Mr McCallum.
"The fire crews are concerned that there will be further structural collapses and they're having to fight fire from outside the property rather than inside because of the dangers of further collapse."
