Police said staff at the school, on Clotherholme Road, called for assistance at about 12:30 GMT. North Yorkshire Police said 27 students had "displayed signs of sickness and feeling faint sometime between 11:00 and 11.30".
Yorkshire Ambulance Service said 27 people have been affected. It is not yet known what has caused the students at the school on Clotherholme Road to fall ill.
Police are yet to release details but said: "At this time, the safety of all the students and staff at the school is paramount." Paramedics have been at the scene attending to some of the ill pupils while others were taken to hospital.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Ripon and Boroughbridge were at the scene "alongside Hazardous Materials Specialist Officers".
"A specialist detection, identification and monitoring (DIM) team from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service is also at the incident," the fire service added.
Outwood Academy has 635 students, aged from 11 to 18.
On its website the school states it was judged "good" in its most recent Ofsted inspection in 2012.
