The man, carrying a large knife, entered the station on Lalor Road and was shot by an officer just before 10.40am on Tuesday. He died at the scene. | |
NSW region commander Assistant Commissioner Dennis Clifford said police were still working to establish the identity of the man, who was in his 40s. | |
He said there was no indication the confrontation was terrorism-related but the man’s motivations were not yet known. | |
Only one shot was fired, and both police officers and members of the public witnessed the shooting. Clifford said the officer who fired the shot was “very distressed”. No police officers were injured. | |
