Seven girls aged between 11 and 17 have been injured in a collision with a car near a Liverpool school, police have said. Eight girls aged between 11 and 16 have been injured in a collision with a car near a Liverpool school, police have said.

Six of the girls were taken to hospital by ambulance, with one attending voluntarily. Seven of the girls, aged between 11 and 13, were taken to Alder Hey children's hospital by ambulance.
'Walking wounded' A 16-year-old with minor injuries was taken to The Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
Merseyside Police said none of the girls are thought to be in a life-threatening condition. 'Broken bones'
Consultant paramedic Mike Jackson, who was first on the scene, said two of the girls had serious "time-critical" injuries and a further three were likely to have fractured limbs or head injuries. Merseyside Police said the driver, who stopped at the scene, was not injured and had not been arrested. She is assisting police with inquiries.
He described the remaining victims as "walking wounded". Merseyside Police said none of the girls was thought to be in a life-threatening condition.
Six of the girls have serious injuries consisting of broken bones and, in the case of one 11-year-old, a head injury.
One 13-year-old has a fractured hip and another has two broken arms.

Several roads in the area have been closed, including Belvidere Road, the junction at Devonshire Road and Admiral Street and the junction between Princess Gate and South Street. All roads that were closed while police and emergency services investigated have been reopened.
