A lorry smashed through the central reservation of the M40 onto the opposite side of the motorway. A lorry has smashed through the central reservation of the M40 onto the opposite side of the motorway.
The lorry hit two cars and a bridge at 11:10 GMT between junction 16 of the M40 and junction 3A of the M42 in Warwickshire, said police. The vehicle collided with two other lorries and hit a bridge just after 11:00 GMT on the stretch between J16 of the M40, Henley, and J3A, where it joins the M42, in Warwickshire.
Highways England said one person was injured and treated by West Midlands Ambulance Service. A man in his 30s had minor injuries, said West Midlands Ambulance Service.
The vehicle was travelling northbound and came to a stop on its side on the southbound carriageway. The lorry was travelling northbound and ended upon its side on the southbound carriageway.

There were tailbacks of up to five miles on both carriageways. "One of the other lorry drivers had back pain but he refused hospital treatment. The third lorry driver was uninjured," said a spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service.
"Delays are expected on both the M40 and the M42 for the rest of the afternoon."
