A lorry has smashed through the central reservation of the M40 onto the opposite side of the motorway. Tailbacks are continuing into the evening after a lorry smashed through the central reservation of the M40 onto the opposite side of the motorway.
The vehicle collided with two other lorries and hit a bridge just after 11:00 GMT on the stretch between J16 of the M40, Henley, and J3A, where it joins the M42, in Warwickshire. The crash happened just after 11:00 GMT northbound between J16 of the M40 in Henley-in-Arden and J3A, where it joins the M42.
A man in his 30s had minor injuries, said West Midlands Ambulance Service. The lorry driver suffered minor injuries, the ambulance service said.
The lorry was travelling northbound and ended upon its side on the southbound carriageway. Three lanes of the M40 northbound will be shut until at least 23:00, Highways England said.
The vehicle collided with two other lorries and a bridge and ended up on its side on the southbound carriageway.
An hour later there were five miles of tailbacks southbound and four miles northbound, Highways England said.
