| In a surprise twist to Britain’s ongoing political crisis, pro-Brexit leader Boris Johnson announced he would not be seeking the Conservative party leadership and was therefore ruling himself out of succeeding David Cameron as prime minister. Johnson, one of the leaders of the Leave campaign, was one of the frontrunners to win the contest, along with home secretary Theresa May, who announced her candidacy earlier today. But the decision by his pro-Brexit colleague Michael Gove to stand himself and attack Johnson may have damaged the former mayor of London’s chances. In the speech in London, Johnson said the next Conservative leader would have to unify his party and ensure that Britain stood tall in the world. “Having consulted colleagues and in view of the circumstances in parliament, I have concluded that person cannot be me.” Steven Crabb, Liam Fox and Andrew Leadsom are also running. The result will be announced on 9 September. | |

He later told police he wanted to kill the presumptive Republican nominee, according to the US Secret Service. There are also new claims that Trump sought foreign donations.
