A suspicious package thought to contain white power has sparked a security alert in Belfast city centre. There is a second alert about a package containing white powder in Belfast city centre.
The parcel was found in post at the Police Ombudsman's Office in Church Street. Emergency services are at the Sunday World's offices in Commercial Court after a journalist is believed to have opened the package.
The area around the office has been cordoned off. Police, seven fire engines and two ambulance crews are at the scene in the Cathedral Quarter. An earlier alert sparked by a parcel found in post at the Police Ombudsman's Office in Church Street, was an elaborate hoax.
A police spokesman confirmed that officers were at the scene. The alert was raised at 1040 BST on Tuesday. Police, seven fire engines and two ambulance crews attended the scene.
