The Foreign Office said it is aware of the incident but is yet to confirm any details. While initial reports suggested that a number of those involved were in a critical condition, police officials told Reuters news agency that the lives of the badly injured teenagers were not in danger.
A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We are providing support to a group of British nationals following a coach crash in France. We are in contact with the relevant local authorities."
