Det Ch Insp Cliff Lyons, leading the investigation, said Jimmy encountered his attacker after going into the Three Cooks Bakery with an older brother.
He said: "The youth, intent on violence, offered him (Jimmy) outside for a fight.

"Not content with matters ending there, the youth then proceeded to smash down the door of the bakery, shattering the glass.

"We are holding a leavers' mass today as it will be the last time we will have our Year 11 students together in the school.
"St Thomas Moore has a very caring, compassionate school community and that mass will be dedicated to Jimmy and his family."
