Det Ch Insp Cliff Lyons, leading the investigation, said Jimmy encountered his attacker after going into the Three Cooks Bakery with an older brother. "They must be in pain. It's so painful to know that your child has been so cruel, so wicked. So I say to them my prayers are with you.
"I can't feel anger. There is too much anger is this world. It is anger that killed my son.
"Jimmy's legacy should be a legacy of love."
She added that she took great comfort in knowing he died in her one of her other son's arms.
"I got to the bakery as soon as I could, I could not have got there any quicker," she said.
"I wish I could have held him in my arms but I take great comfort that he was with his brother, who loves him as much as I do."

Det Ch Insp Cliff Lyons, leading the investigation, said Jimmy encountered his attacker after going into the Three Cooks Bakery, which is less than 500 yards from the family home, with an older brother.

Markus Ryan, Jimmy's head teacher at St Thomas Moore RC Secondary School, said a scheduled mass will be dedicated to him.
"Jimmy was a very well liked, gentle student who always tried his best," he said.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Jimmy and his family at this very sad time.
"We are holding a leavers' mass today as it will be the last time we will have our Year 11 students together in the school.
"St Thomas Moore has a very caring, compassionate school community and that mass will be dedicated to Jimmy and his family."
