Ms Newland's lawyer argued that her conviction was "unsafe" and three appeal judges quashed her conviction following criticism of the trial judge's summing up. The appeal was allowed on the basis of direction given to the jury by the judge at her trial at Chester Crown Court last year and a re-trial ordered.
She was convicted by a jury of three counts of sexual assault at Chester Crown Court last year.
No date has yet been set for the retrial.
