Two women killed in road accident Mother, daughter die in accident

Gardaí in County Donegal are investigating a fatal road accident in Bunbeg. A mother and her daughter have been killed in a road accident in Gweedore, County Donegal.
Two female pedestrians were hit by a car at Meenacuinn. Both women died following the incident. The pair, believed to be from Northern Ireland, were out walking at Meenacuing near Bunbeg at 2030 BST on Saturday when the accident happened.
The accident happened at about 2030 BST on Saturday. The road between An Cuirt Hotel and the Dun Lewey crossroads was closed for a period. The mother was in her mid-40s and her daughter was a teenager. Their names have not yet been released.
A Gardaí spokesperson said the male driver of the car was not injured in the accident. Meanwhile, a female cyclist is in hospital after being struck by a lorry in Ballymena, County Antrim, on Sunday.
