Inquiry into death of boy, aged 2 Toxicology tests on dead toddler

South Wales Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a two-year-old boy. Police say toxicology tests are to be carried out on a toddler who died after collapsing at his home near Bridgend.

The boy was initially taken to hospital in Bridgend, but he was later transferred to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, where he died. Dylan Hughes was taken to hospital in Bridgend then transferred to Cardiff's University Hospital of Wales, where he died.
On Thursday morning police remained at the terraced house on Ogwy Street, the main road through the village. South Wales Police said a post mortem examination carried out on Thursday "proved inconclusive".
Two teddy bears have been placed on the window sill of the house. Police remain at the terraced home on Ogwy Street, where teddy bears were left on the floor and window sill outside.
One neighbour said they had seen the boy playing during recent warm weather. The toys bore poignant messages, including a blue rabbit whose tag read: "Sweet dreams baby Dylan. RIP."

A card on a yellow teddy bear read: "To a special little boy Dylan, full of fun and life. You will always be in our thoughts. "Now a little angel. Love all your little friends at playgroup."
As the small community spoke of their shock, a woman collapsed in front of the house before running, screaming across the road. She was led away by a police officer.
Neighbour Matthew Grant said: "We saw the ambulance come on Wednesday night. The mum was carrying the baby in her arms and I could see he was unconscious. It's all quite sad.
"I didn't know the family, but I'd seen him running down the road before."
A 62-year-old neighbour, who did not want to be named, said she had been in tears over the death.
Condolences
She said: "It did really upset me. For any two-year-old to die is so upsetting.
"I would see the father pushing him in his pushchair, taking him on walks. It's just terrible."
Ch Insp Eddie Ough said: "The Nantymoel community is understandably very upset by Dylan's tragic death.
"We would like to offer our condolences to his family and our thoughts are with all of those who knew him.
"At this stage it is too soon to speculate on the exact cause of Dylan's death which is still being investigated by South Wales Police."
He said Dylan's family had asked to be left "to grieve in peace", and added that his parents and relatives were co-operating fully with the police investigation.
