A strong performance from some mining companies helps London's FTSE 100 index to pass beyond Wednesday's record closing high of 7,106.08 points. | |
A weaker performance on Wall Street overnight had earlier helped to hold back investors. At noon the FTSE was up a smidge - 1.4 points at 7,107.48. | |
Randgold and Fresnillo were again both in the top five gainers, adding between 2-3% to Wednesday's 5% rise. | |
Barclays and Ashtead Group were also in the top five fallers. | |
