Speaking alongside Lofving, Head of SAPO Anders Thornberg said the two organizations were working side by side. "We will turn over every stone to find out who is behind this,” he said at the conference. Police have also said they are already interviewing two people in relation to the attack. "I can confirm that we have taken in two people for questioning, but that does not necessarily mean that they are suspects," police spokesman Lars Bystrom said, as cited by Reuters.
The attack took place in Drottninggatan, one of the city's main pedestrian areas. The truck ploughed through people before crashing into a department store. Prime Minister Stefan Lofven said the attack appeared to be an act of terrorism. "We want to talk to everybody who knows anything about this and sometimes it's better to talk at the police station than at the place of the event,” he added.
