A man believed to be in his 40s who suffered serious head injuries has been taken to Queens Hospital in Romford. His condition is life threatening. Essex Police said 62-year-old factory worker Karol Boronski, from Lowestoft, Suffolk, was killed in the crash.
A woman was taken to Colchester General Hospital with head and hand cuts. Five people were treated at the scene. A man from Witham, Essex, and a 19-year-old woman from Suffolk were both seriously injured. A police spokeswoman said their conditions were stable.
The injured man, believed to be aged in his 40s, suffered head injuries which are considered life threatening. He is being treated in Queen's Hospital, Romford.
The 19-year-old was taken to Colchester General Hospital with cuts to her head and hand.

Police say the accident has closed a section of the road and drivers face major delays. After the crash police appealed for the drivers of two cars which suffered less serious damage in the accident to contact them.
It is believed the drivers stopped after the crash but left the scene before police arrived.
The driver of a silver BMW has now been in touch with officers, the police spokeswoman said.
