SDLP Councillor Matthew McDermott has condemned those responsible for the alert
He said: "At this stage the police are waiting on bomb disposal experts to check the devices and this is causing a major inconvenience to everyone in the area particularly families taking their children to school.
"This is a sad reflection of the dark and gloomy days that we thought were in the past.
"The people that carried this out really need to catch up. They have no support in the wider community."
