Fire crews tackle mountain blaze Man's lung punctured in attack

Several fire fighters are tackling a heather blaze in the Mourne mountains. Police in Craigavon are investigating the assault of a 35-year-old man on Wednesday evening.
An area on the Donard side is on fire. The fire service was called to the area shortly after 1000 BST on Thursday. Four men attacked the man at about 1700 BST outside a property in Legahory Court.
BBC Newsline presenter Noel Thompson, who is at the scene, said the fire fighters are working hard to contain the blaze. The victim was taken to hospital suffering from a punctured lung and a broken bone in his back.
"I was standing there trying to stamp it out a little bit with my boots, but these poor firemen are labouring up the hill. It is quite a walk." Anyone who has any information or saw a white Peugeot 306 in the area at the time is asked to contact police on 0845 6008000.


Man's ear bitten off in assault
A man has had his ear bitten off during an attack in Coleraine.
He was assaulted by up to five men at Beresford Road between 0030 and 0100 BST on Friday.
It is believed the gang ran off in the direction of Beresford Place.
Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.

11 chainsaws stolen
Eleven chainsaws have been stolen from business premises in County Antrim.
The theft from the premises on the Cushendall Road in Rathkenny, just outside Ballymena, was discovered on Tuesday morning.
The 11 Husqvarna petrol chainsaws are valued at a total of about £4,510, the police have said.
Detectives in Ballymena are appealing for information and can be contacted on 0845 600 8000.

Masked men rob shop at knifepoint
There has been an armed robbery in Londonderry.
Two masked men, one armed with a knife, entered a shop in the Argyle Terrace area of the city at about 1930 BST on Monday.
They took a sum of cash from the till and made off in the direction of Magee college.
A 26-year-old man has been arrested and is helping police with their inquiries.

Charges relate to theft at dead man's house
A 44-year-old man is to appear in court charged with handling stolen goods and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
He is expected to appear at Antrim Magistrates Court on 23 June.
The charges related to a robbery at a house in the Elver Avenue area of Toome on 19 May.
The property belonged to a man who had died 48 hours earlier.
