SDLP councillor Seamus Doyle has known the pensioner who was dragged out her home in Castlewellan for many years.
He said: "She has lived in the country all her life and her husband died not all that long ago.
"She lived on a farm and was probably used to working very hard and was a very resilient lady herself.
"You couldn't start to think what was going through her mind but I'm sure it was a desperate ordeal for the lady, and when she sits down and thinks about it - it's probably far worse again."
