The East Londonderry DUP MP, Gregory Campbell, said that the "whole community in Londonderry wants these attacks to end and those responsible for them to be punished to the maximum extent of the law".
"There are clearly some Republicans in parts of Londonderry who feel they can set themselves up as judge, jury and executioner over the people of the city they are wrong."
"All right thinking people throughout the whole community are disgusted by these latest so-called punishment shootings," he said.
"Paramilitary gangsterism must have no role in determining guilt or apportioning punishment and I would appeal to anyone with any information regarding the identity of those responsible to come forward and share what they know with the police," Mr Campbell added.
