NHS Dumfries and Galloway also confirmed a number of its sites had been affected as a result of the problem. | |
A spokeswoman said: "BT have reported a major fault covering the Dumfries exchange area. | |
"As a result we are not receiving any calls into Dumfries Infirmary, Crichton or Nithbank hospital sites or Dumfries GPs." | |
BT urged people affected not to report a line fault. |
