Motorists in Surrey are facing long delays after part of the M25 was closed in both directions for more than three hours because of a gas leak.
An exclusion zone was set up after a gas pipe ruptured near the Runnymede Hotel, Egham, close to junction 13.
Surrey Police closed the M25 in both directions between junctions 12 and 14, and Windsor Road just after midday.
The exclusion zone was lifted and roads reopened just after 1500 BST. Drivers have been warned to expect delays.
'Drivers frustrated' | |
The hotel was evacuated and no-one was injured during the incident, Surrey Police said.
Reporter Ben Kerrigan, who is near to the hotel, told BBC Surrey: "I've just spoken to one of the policemen here and they say drivers really are very, very frustrated with the situation.
"As you can imagine it's causing chaos and not just for the M25.
"As well as the delays on the motorway itself, it's causing absolute chaos around the Egham area Englefield Green all around Runnymede.
"I've just spoken to a driver who shouted through their window a few moments ago and they said they'd been going round and round for the past two hours. | "I've just spoken to a driver who shouted through their window a few moments ago and they said they'd been going round and round for the past two hours. |
