Motorists in Surrey are facing delays after part of the M25 was closed in both directions because of a gas leak. Motorists in Surrey are facing long delays after part of the M25 was closed in both directions for more than three hours because of a gas leak.
The ruptured gas pipe is at the Runnymede Hotel, Egham, near junction 13, where Surrey Fire and Rescue said an exclusion zone was in place. An exclusion zone was set up after a gas pipe ruptured near the Runnymede Hotel, Egham, close to junction 13.
The closure is between junctions 12 - the Thorpe Interchange turn-off for the M3, and 14 - for Heathrow Terminal 4. Surrey Police closed the M25 in both directions between junctions 12 and 14, and Windsor Road just after midday.
Diversions are in place and drivers have been warned the M25 may not reopen until 1600 BST at the earliest. The exclusion zone was lifted and roads reopened just after 1500 BST. Drivers have been warned to expect delays.
The fire brigade ordered the road to be closed in both directions from just after noon. 'Drivers frustrated'
