Earlier, we brought you reports from Nigeria, where local journalists said at least four women had been killed when a crowd rushed to get cash handouts from a businessman. By Danai Nesta Kupemba
Police have now told the BBC that seven deaths have been confirmed, but Nigerian journalist Bauchi Hassan Mohammed, who has been covering the incident, said he believes the death toll could be as high as 17. BBC News
The police also said they have launched an investigation into the stampede. Amaechi Muonagor was a loved Nollywood legend, whose career spanned over two decades.
